How to apply for Angola's online visa

  • Angola was known to have been a war-torn country in the early 2000s. The war is now long ended and this country is a worthy visit when visiting Africa.

How to get an Angolan visa

  • Angolan visas are one of the most difficult to acquire in Africa. Only the citizens from SADC member countries and Singapore are visa exempted and can visit Angola visa-free for a period of up to 30 days. Citizens from 59 countries including all EU citizens, UK citizens, and US citizens are allowed to apply for visas on arrival.
  • For the other countries, you have to visit the nearest Angolan embassy to get your visa.

How to apply for an Angolan e-visa

  • The e-visa doubles as both a tourist visa and business visa. You have to use the visa within 60 days after it's issued. The visa is valid for only 30 days from the day you arrive in Angola but you can also extend it for another 30 days.
  • The process is really simple. You will need:
  1. A passport that's valid for at least 6 months.
  2. White background passport photos.
  3. Vaccine certificate.
  4. Proof of livelihood.
  5. Proof of accommodation.
  6. Air ticket reservation and return flight ticket.
  7. Visa fee of $120. This few is paid at the border point or airport of entry
  • See document and image specifications here.
  • Tourists that apply for the Angolan e-visa have to enter through these specific entry points.
  1. Luanda airport
  2. Lubango airport
  3. Massabi - on the border with the Republic of Congo
  4. Curoca, Calai, and Katwitwi - on the border with Namibia.
  5. Luau - on Angola-DRC border.
  • You can only extend your visa at SME offices ( Angola's immigration authority). They have offices in Luanda, Huambo, and Sumbe. The process is very long and ends up costing up to $500. This is especially the case in Luanda. It's easier to have your visa extended in Sumbe.
