Consequences of overstaying your visa in Bangladesh.

  • There are consequences of overstaying your visa when in Bangladesh.
  • However, there are a few things you should understand before taking your visa to Bangladesh.
  • Make sure to take the appropriate visa and apply for the visa that fully suits your activities in the country.
  • This is because it is very hard to change your visa status after you have applied for your visa,
  • For those with business activities, then they should take a business permit for the duration they intend to stay there.
  • If you are a tourist and intend to stay for a few days, you can be denied a visa if you do not show sufficient financial liquidity.
  • The penalties for overstaying your visa in the country are as follows.
  1. 1 to 15 days = 200 Bangladeshi taka per day + 160 U.S. dollar (or equivalent in Bangladeshi taka) processing fee
  2. 16 to 30 days = 500 Bangladeshi taka per day + 160 U.S. dollar (or equivalent in Bangladeshi taka) processing fee
  3. 31 days or more = Adjudication at the immigration office
  • The biggest problem with the penalties is that they can really inconvenience you as the entire process is painstakingly slow.
  • You can however, apply for an extension while in the country and the immigration office will decide whether to grant the extension or not.
  • For you to get an extension, your claim should be backed up by sufficient evidence such as documents and that.
