Visa requirements for Cameroon

  • All foreigners except those from the Central African Republic, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville and Nigeria must obtain a visa before visiting Cameroon.
  • There are several types of visas that you can obtain depending on the nature of your visit.
  • The type of visa may include;
  1. Airport transit visa - This is for those transiting through the country via the airport.
  2. Visitor visa - This is mainly for those that are visiting friends and relatives in the country.
  3. Business visa - If you intend to carry out any work relating activity in the county, this is the visa for you.
  4. Tourist visa - This is for those who are in the country for tourist activities such as to see the wildlife in the country or if you have taken a nice vacation to the country.
  5. Student visa - This is for students from abroad who wish to study in the country.
  6. Employment visa - This visa is slightly different from the business visa as this one is for those who wish to be employed in the country.
  7. Permanent residence visa - This is issued to those who marry a Cameroonian.
  • For you to be granted a visa, you will need the following for the application to be accepted;
  1. A yellow fever vaccination certificate, regardless of what country you're from. You must also show this to the authorities at the airport once arriving in Cameroon.
  2. The application form and 2 passport-size photographs.
  3. The application fee (ex: In March 2021, this was USD141 for citizens of all countries except the visa waiver countries mentioned above).
  4. Your passport with at least six months remaining before expiration.
  • For those applying for the visitor visa, you would need a letter of invitation from your host that is your friend or relative and this letter must be stamped by the local authorities before sending it to you.
