Use Google Maps to navigate the old town to avoid getting lost

  • The old town of Fez is a really confusing place to navigate. I consider myself to have a pretty good sense of direction but I got lost more often than not in the old town.
  • The first day I got in my Airbnb sent someone to pick me up. I would not have been able to find the house on my own.
  • The streets are mostly winding, narrow alleyways in between buildings. They are for pedestrians only as they're not wide enough for cars. Taxis park just outside the old city and you have to walk into it on foot.
  • Google Maps was super helpful. I loaded the entire city before I left my Airbnb so that the entire area is saved on my phone for offline navigation.
  • I also pinned all the places I wanted to check out on the map beforehand.
  • Once I left my Airbnb, I basically just used the GPS on Google Maps to help me navigate the town.
  • I would not recommend using paper maps as the streets are not marked clearly with street names and it's hard to tell which street is which. The whole place felt like a maze.
