How to get to the Airport in Milan

There are 3 airports in Milan!

1. Milano Malpensa MXP

  • Express Train:
  • Departs from Milano Central Railway Station (Milano Centrale ); Milano Cadorna; Milano Porta Garibaldi, Milano Bovisa Politecnico (Trenord/FS)
  • Ticket Cost: 13€ one way, 20€ return ticket within 30 days. Can buy from station or online
  • Time: around 37-50min, depends on departure station, check schedule online
  • Frequency: every 30min
  • Shuttle bus from Milano
  • Bus stops are outside the Milano Centrale Railway Station. Facing the station on the right
  • Run by different companies, just go on one that's leaving the earliest, they are all the same: www.airportbusexpress.it ; www.malpensashuttle.it ; www.terravision.eu
  • Ticket cost: 8€ one way, 14€ round trip. Can buy directly before getting on bus, they have a pos machine taking bank cards, but safer with cash
  • Time: 1.5-2hrs depends on traffic. There are also a few stops in between

2.Milano Linate LIN:

  • Public City bus N. 73
  • Departs from Duomo (but stop is not right on the square), look up stops in between here:
  • Ticket Cost: 1.5€ - a regular ATM ticket, make sure you stamp the card after getting on bus
  • Can not buy ticket on bus, have to buy before at metro stops or at Tabacchi shops or newspaper stands, or on ATM app, or sending SMS with the message "ATM" to 48444
  • Shuttle bus: Airbus from Milano Centrale
  • Cost: Single 5€ , Return 9€
  • Takes 25min, runs almost every 30min
  • Detail
  • Taxi: it's the closest airport to the city so taxi cost won't break a leg.

3. Bergamo Orio al Serio:

  • This is the furthest airport, actually already in another City (Bergamo) but most budget airline flies there like Ryanair, Wizzair etc
  • Shuttle bus
  • Bus stops are outside the Milano Centrale Railway Station. Facing the station on the left
  • Run by different companies, just go on one that's leaving the earliest, they are all the same: www.orioshuttle.com; www.terravision.eu ; www.autostradale.it
  • Ticket cost: 9€ one way. Can buy directly before getting on bus, they have a pos machine taking bank cards, but safer with cash
  • Time: 1.5-2hrs depends on traffic. There are also a few stops in between

If you are taking the Bus, pay attention to leave enough time before your flight because traffic is common and very bad during rush hours, and they don't normally depart on time, always wait for more people to get on bus then they leave

Milan is really well connected to his main 3 airport. Never take an abusive taxy driver (or a normal taxy driver - they are unnecessary as well as too expensive!)
