Hotel vs Riad in Morocco

  • Riads are smaller, stairs, no lifts for those with kids or elderly parents.
  • Breakfast usually prepared by cooks at Riad, decent enough.
  • Older riads like the ones I stayed in had water pressure problems or no hot water.
  • On temperate days tolerable but heat wave days were awful.
  • Getting to riads can be tricky as hidden in medinas.
  • That said enjoyed it as an experience and you can talk with the locals about their life.
  • Hotel stay was superior in terms of comfort, good way to end the trip.
  • Felt a bit cafes as 5 stars are located usually in the new town , far away from the action e.g stayed at Fes Marriott Jnan Palace. It was ok but no Westin Nusa Dua. Food was terribly average.
