The official currency in Namibia is the Namibian dollar, it can be used interchangeably with the South African Rand since they both have the same value as it is now and the Rand is also recognized as legal tender in Namibia, therefore don't pay more if you use one currency instead of the other.
Note: In as much as the South African Rand can be used freely in Namibia, Namibian dollars are not legal tender in South Africa
Both traveler cheques and cash can be exchanged at banks or bureau de change centers. In Namibia. However, traveler cheques have a better exchange rate as compared to cash.

There's a restriction to the amount of local currency you can import or export, (NAD 50000 maximum). For foreign currency, there are no restrictions. These currency restrictions, however, don't apply for people traveling from or to Namibia from the following countries.
American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Diners Club are the most commonly accepted credit cards all across Namibia
