How to get to Versailles from Paris

  • Versailles is very easy to get to from Paris. You can easily do a day trip there
  • I took the RER C train. RER trains are regional trains that serve the greater Paris area
  • Use Google Maps to help you figure out how to get to an RER C train station. I boarded at the Champs de Mars - Tour Eiffel station, which was right on the river close to the Eiffel Tower
  • The train costs ~7 EUR round trip, you can pay by credit card (I don't think AMEX is accepted, stick to VISA or MasterCard) at the station
  • Make sure you board the version of RER C train destined for "Versailles Cheateau". There are multiple versions of RER C trains that go to different places. You can see this easily on the TV monitors hanging in the stations or on the side of the trains
  • The trip took about 40 minutes
  • Once you get to the Versailles station, you can walk to the Palace on foot in like 10 minutes. Just follow the crowd or signs
