How to access WiFi at Rio de Janeiro International airport ( GIG)

  • Most tourists usually connect to the airport's WiFi ( RIO GALEAO). The network is not passworded and WiFi is free for the first one hour.
  • After the one hour, there's literally nothing you can do after it has elapsed unless you ask for the WiFi password at a restaurant you'll be at within the airport ( worked for me).
  • You'll have to purchase a prepaid SIM card with internet. You can get one within GIG since there are no Sim card shops there.
  • Youll find multiple SIM card shops in town, you'll get a prepaid SIM card with data at about $5 minimum.
  • You need to present your passport when registering for a Brazilian SIM card.
