Salar de Pedernales is probably the most beautiful salt lake i've ever seen, I prefer it even more than Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia for it's depth and shades of blue - and the fact you can actually swim in it!
There's not a lot of info on how to get there in English online so I'm sharing mine with you:
- Salar de Pedernales is located in the North of Chile, the zone of Atacama. The closest town is El Salvador (60km away) or Diego de Almagro (100km away)
- As far as I know, the only way to get there is by car.
- The road leading to it is gravelled and narrow, but very empty, no traffic. A jeep would be a good choice.
- Near by town where you can get gas: El Salvador (60 km), Diego de Almagro (103 km)
