A good place to get a fantastic view of Shanghai's skyline

If you want to find a good place to take in Shanghai's skyline, Puxi (western side of the river) is the side of the river you want to be on, not Pudong (eastern side of the river). This is cuz you can actually see Pudong's skyline from Puxi, whereas if you're in Pudong you can't really see that
In particular, my favorite place in Puxi to admire Shanghai's skyline is on the rooftop bar of the Indigo Hotel at the very southern end of The Bund
There you get an unobstructed view of the entire Pudong futuristic skyline, the Bund, as well as Puxi's dense skyscrapers
The rooftop bar (part of the CHAR Bar & Grill) is open to the public. We didn't really need a reservation to go to the bar, but if you're planning to eat there you should give them a call.
It's not cheap, expect to pay New York / San Fran prices there. But you can just get a beer there and hang out
Taxi/Didi is the easiest way to get to the hotel. When you get there make sure you tell them you want to go to the rooftop bar and not the restaurant. Best time to go is around sun set
There wasn't strict dress code at least when I went. I was in shorts and t-shirt. But everyone there were mostly in business casual. To avoid issues don't wear flip flops and tank tops (guys and girls)
